My sick babies

BEAU

It has been a tornado at our house for the past week.

First, Beau got sick last week with temperatures hitting 103.5* at numerous times this past weekend. We went to the Doctor and (surprise) he has ear infections again. Since he he allergic to Amoxicillian, we get the really good, expensive medicine now! You would think it worked that much better, but that is not the case.

The picture below you can actually see the outline of B's body when he woke up in sweat finally breaking his fever! I thought it was picture worthy. (The far right in the picture is his head outline, then going left is his shoulders with the start of the arms, then the troso..kinda creepy)

In light of all B's ear infections, we are meeting with an ENT surgeon later this month to discuss the benefits of getting tubes put in his ears. I have been doing research and asking friends about this surgery and have only gotten positive feedback.

CHARLIE

On to my other sick baby, Charlie. Charlie has been in hiding since Sunday. He hasn't eaten or drank much that we have noticed. He has also been limping, when he does move around the house. Last night i nussed him and he didn't respond to my loving on him at all. I moved him to the floor in front of the water dish. This morning when we woke up he hadn't moved. So, I packed up the car with Beau in his jammies with milk and animal crackers, Seth in the front seat, and Charlie on a towel on my lap and we drove to our Vets office.

The vet did a simple once over on Charlie and determined he has a blocked bladder and his belly is horribly bloated and rock hard. The Vet discussed the possible outcomes with me. I called Steve and we opted for Charlie to have blockage removal surgery. The surgery consists of the Vet sedating him, putting a catheder in to remove the blockage, removing any big blockage, keeping him there for a two day recovery and lastly, Charlie being on a restrictive diet to prevent further blockage. He is not happy about any of this, but the alternative is him dying from kidney failure.

Considering Charlie is 7 years old and has never had issues (other than peeing on everything:), this should be able to be treated and live like normal for the rest of his life.

I will keep you posted when we hear anything from the Vet about his recovery.
